SCHOOL PROFILE : Valentine's Day Decoration Committee

What is Valentine's Day? St Valentine's Day is an annual festival to celebrate romantic love, friendship, and admiration. Every year on 14 February, people celebrate this day by sending messages of love and affection to partners, family, and friends. Couples send Valentine's Day cards and flowers and spend special time together to honour their love for each other.
In SMAK 5 PENABUR, we also celebrate Valentine's Day. With the help of the student council members from the 6th division, we can send various gifts to our loved ones through a program called KISSE5. But, we need something that can make Valentine's Day in our school more rousing. Admittedly, we need decorations. The Valentine's decoration committee surely has provided us some remarkable decorations for this year's Valentine and of course, they've faced lots of difficulties in order to create the utmost decorations.

In order to know more about the Valentine's decoration committee and their stupendous art works, we've interviewed some of the decoration committee members.

1. What's the theme for this Valentine's decorations?
It's rustic and geometric garden.
2. Did you face any problem through the process of making the decorations?
Yes, we were totally lacking of funds. There were also damages due to the misplacement of the properties. For example, the one that we placed outside. The bad weather and some nonchalant people who bumped into it were basically the cause of the damages.
3. Do you have any solution for your problems?
We'll try to minimize the cost for buying supplies as much as possible since the next upcoming events also need the fund. As for the damages, we'll move the fragile ones inside and fix them.
4. Do you have any messages throughout your experience for being a member of the committee?
I know that the school decorations may not be a very big deal for anyone in school to pay attention to, but a little bit of appreciation by not damaging the works would help us a lot. We spent a pretty much amount of energy and seeing the destroyed works makes me sad.
5. When did you start making all the decorations?
We started from January 10th.
6. What were the joyful and sad things that you feel by being a part of the Valentine's decoration committee?

The joyful ones were learning about lots of new things about decoration and expressing your thoughts. I was also the coordinator, so I learnt to make good decisions. I also gained new friend who were also a part of the committee. The sad one was seeing the damaged decorations due to the heavy rain.
7. Why did you decide to join the Valentine's decoration committee?
At first, I decided to join the Valentine's decoration committee because I was interested in Valentine, so I took the opportunity.
8. What were the things that you were afraid about?
I was afraid that we wouldn't make the decorations on time. I was also scared about creating decorations because they have to blend well with the Valentine theme.
9. Did you gain any unforgettable experience by joining the committee?
Yes, it was very fun when we were working together to gain new ideas.
10. What was the most common problem that you faced?
Well, I think we were lacking of members so it can be quite hard at certain times. For example, hanging and attaching the decorations.
11. Do you have any hopes for the next decoration committee?
I hope that they can make better decorations and think about the fault that may occur where they place the decorations.

By reading through their interview, we truly hope that we can embark a simple movement of appreciation to them. We've learnt that they gave us their best to create decorations with strong ambience. The decorations are the result of their ideas, creativity, and hard work. With that, we would be more than pleased to thank the Valentine's decoration committee.
