A plot twist is known to be the spice of a story. In the world of fiction, thousands of possibilities exist in terms of an equation of dynamics between different characters. From years to ages, billions of stories have been spawned by different legendary writers and imaginators. And of course, all kinds of cultures and traditions had taken their toll on giving certain effects to how these stories were written. And by this measure, repetition is inevitable. All kinds of different genres exist and yet originality never sticks to more than the first five written. It’s always the same problem with all the same reasons, creating all kinds of similar outcomes. This would make future stories dull and predictable.

So as to how a problem never ceased to exist, people would try to find a solution. And one of the most popular alternatives to avoid a high predictable level of a story is to add a twist. A plot twist itself is a change of path from an expected direction to a more bizarre, shocking, and or surprising revelation of a new outcome in a work of fiction. Plot twists in a story are added to higher the level of the audiences’ interest. They usually work wonders on one’s mind and it’s a fairly common practice amongst the world of authors.

So if you were to read a mystery novel and suddenly someone is someone's cousin, or if you were to read a romance novel and suddenly a very isolated character gets a large portion of the inheritance, you’d be calling that a plot twist.

A plot twist itself can go as far as you want them to be. Starting from a secret twin, the whole story being a dream, betrayals, an inside job, a sudden breakup, arranged marriages, proposals, bankruptcy, and many more are all on the table.

As an example, let’s take a look at the movie Red Notice (2021) which starred Gal Gadot, Ryan Reynolds, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Red Notice is a movie that revolves around the commotions of comedy and action. And it’s a must to say that in this movie Ryan Reynold strikes again!

Continuing upon the subject, Red Notice tells the story of three main characters with all different backgrounds and their dynamic in a situation where a golden cleopatra egg heist is involved. They went around juggling here and there and dodging dangers of each other to accomplish the mission of stealing the egg for themselves that could plausibly feed their next 3 generations.

The comedy in the movie really strikes, but what was more interesting was that it includes a lot of amazing, unthinkable, unfathomable, and frankly uncountable plot twists. Starting from the surprise visits to the betrayals and the alliance formation, it showed a lot of moments which were point-of-interest worthy. The showings and revelations of these twists were also stringed along with cinematic arts and perfect timings. It created greater measure and level of interest to the movie, leaving some people to pick up interest upon all that was happening in 5 minutes, but yet still managed to enjoy themselves on the easily taken in story.

It’s a brilliant movie yet easy to take in, a comedic masterpiece with calculated placements of twists. 10 out of 10, would definitely recommend.
