English Service
by Arthur Julian Mulia
What’s English Service?
English services has multiple benefits:
English Service is a worship session that’s done in English, rather than the Indonesian language as usual. It’s a collaboration between Bid 1 and Bid 10, bringing students together to create a meaningful worship experience. It’s used as an opportunity for students to practice their English while engaging in spiritual growth, helping them prepare for a global Christian community. The service typically includes songs, scripture readings, and prayers.
Why is it Important?
English service provides students a place to strengthen their faith through worship, prayers, and scripture readings.
Improves their confidence in using English.
Provides a fresher point of view on Bible passages, as hearing them in another language could help achieve new insights.
What to Expect in an English Service?
Opening Prayer: A student leads a prayer to start the service.
Praise and Worship: Songs are sung in English.
Bible Reading: A selected passage is read and reflected upon.
Sermon or Message: A speaker delivers a teaching based on the Bible, relating it to students' daily lives.
Closing Prayer: The session ends with a prayer.
English Service is more than worship, it’s a chance for students to grow their faith while developing English communication skills. Whether students are fluent or just starting to learn, it is a welcoming space to develop their spirituality and their English skills.
