Live In 2019
From March 14 to 18 2019, SMAK 5 PENABUR Jakarta held the Live In Activity in the village of Kasimpar, Pekalongan. This program aims to enable SMAK 5 students to get out of their comfort zone and live in a new environment. So that they can become a better leaders who can adapt with society and empathize with each other.
Students depart from school together along with Teachers on March 14 at 10:00 p.m. They had prepared and brought used clothes and basic necessities for bazaar to be held there. Then, they arrived at Pekalongan City at 9 am, because to get to the village they had to go through a narrow and damaged terrain, so they had to take a local vehicle called "doplak", which is a pickup truck. The trip from the city to the village of Kasimpar takes about 1 hour. When they arrived there, the Live In participants were immediately welcomed by local residents. Participants and residents then had breakfast together which the residents had prepared. After that, participants were asked to go to a predetermined house. Participants were asked to mingle around with the residents.
The next day, counseling, bazaars and social services were held for the residents there. The community there was very enthusiastic and pleased with this bazaar and social service. At the same time, there were several participants who taught school-aged pupils in the elementary school.
On Sunday, March 17, participants and residents attended a joint service. There were students who played music instruments, some of them taught at the Sunday school, and there are those who only attended the service. After the services, bazaars, social services and lunch was held at the church specifically for the congregation there. In the evening, a night of togetherness was held. On the event, participants with their “new families” delivered testimonials there and had fun.
On the 18th of March, the participants headed to "Curug Bajing" and took some photos. After that, they had to leave for Jakarta so they said goodbye and separated with the residents there. This activity is very good because we can learn and gain new experiences from extraordinary people. We also feel more grateful for the blessings we have received. Thank you, Kasimpar. God bless.
