SMAK 5 Leadership Day

On February 6^th 2020, SMAK 5 is back again with its annual and one of their most prestigious event “Leadership Day”. This event is conducted to teach students of SMAK 5 about leadership skills, with the general theme “Berani Berubah, Semakin Peduli, dan Berbagi”. Every grade has its own different sub-theme, from “Care for Ourselves (Family)” for grade 10, “Care for Friends and People Surround Us (School)” for grade 11 and “Care for Others (Society)” for grade 12.

This year’s Leadership Day is a little bit different from previous years. SMAK 5 students got a chance to join an Interactive Seminar about leadership skills, presented by Miss Yosheda Quinn, a SMAK 5 alumnus who is now working as Growth Manager in one of the biggest fin-tech company in Indonesia called DANA and Mr. Wirry Tjandra, the CEO of Family Mart Indonesia.

After recess, students were allowed to present their Leadership task results. The presentation was conducted for approximately 2 hours. Grade 10 students were given the task to make a short movie about “Loving and Caring Yourself”. Grade 11 students were asked to promote their own programs of caring for friends and people around them. They did this task by making a banner to introduce their program and followed by their presentation to other students. Grade 12’s task was to show their care by helping people around them such as cleaning service, ragpickers, and other people in need. After that, they were tasked to make a book and video out of it.

At the end of the day, students were assembled at the school hall and were shown some of the winner’s videos. This way, students would feel more appreciated for their works. After that,  all the winners were given the prizes. From each grade, 3 winners were picked and the total of prizes from each grade is up to Rp1.200.000.

From this event, Students of SMAK 5 are taught to show love and care through real actions, not just a part of the school curriculum either for the society or themselves. Even by something simple, we can embrace our nature as humans and remember to always spread love and care.
