ESCALADES REVIVAL 2020

 

Have you ever heard about Escalades? It’s one of the biggest and most anticipated events for SMAK 5 students. Escalades, is an annual event that is held by SMAK 5 PENABUR in order to create a sense of sportivity and solidarity between students and schools. This event is also created as a place for students to find and improve their abilities, in terms of arts, sports, or languages.

But something is different this year. Because of the ongoing pandemics, SMAK 5 nearly faced a dead-end in creating this program. In order to keep the fire of Escalades, the committees decided to make this a virtual event.

This year, Escalades have a special theme, which is Revival, in short of 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙊𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙑𝙞𝙜𝙤𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙢 𝙑𝙞𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙨.  By having this theme, they want to prove that respect is still here and a vital aspect of Indonesian society, especially in the new normal era. As a part of the Z generation, we need to do things independently. Also, we need to show respect for our fellow humans for the sake of unity and connection. “Revival” is also a reminder for us about the importance of respect in a society in order to create harmony.

With a total of 210 participants, these are the competitions that are held during escalades revival 2020  : Band, Poster Design, Vocal Solo, Modern Dance,  English Speech Competition, English Storytelling, Monolog, and Photography. These competitions are held from 10th to 17th October 2020. The opening and the livestreams of all competitions can be watched on youtube channel, Escalades SMAK 5 Penabur Jakarta.

One of the highlights of this year's event is the closing. The closing consisted of various events, such as the announcement of winners, music and dance shows by SMAK 5’s students, and a show from the guest star, The Overtunes.

The Overtunes is a popular Indonesian music band, with the members : Mada Emmanuelle Brahmantyo, Reuben Nathaniel Brahmantyo , dan Mikha Angelo Brahmantyo . On Saturday 17th October 2020, they held spectacular online music concerts at zoom and also they have a short talk show with the mc and more than 350 participants.

  The show ended with a short but sweet message from the committee's leader, Kevin, “Thank you Guys! Keep the spirit for next year's event! Keep the team solidarity, keep being creative! Hope you all can make other events like this in the future!”
