Every Ending Has A New Beginning

Humans are lifelong learners. The genius Albert Einstein himself once quoted, “Once you stop learning, you start dying.” This means that as long as we live, we would eventually find discoveries or gain more knowledge on things we used to not know about.

Learning isn’t something that can be done in an instant. It is a slow-paced process that lasts for a long period of time. The main and most prominent part of it being in school, college, or university.

Our education journey is divided into different stages or levels. Here in Indonesia, there are four most notable stages of education: kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school, and senior high school. Higher education stages include bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctoral degree. To commemorate the learner’s successful completion of an education level, hence graduation events are held.

As we’re now entering the middle of the year, graduation events are usually celebrated around this time period, worldwide. The event is usually in the form of a ceremony, known as a commencement ceremony, where graduates receive their diplomas and awards for those who had shown outstanding achievements throughout the academic year. Oftentimes, after the procession, there would be special performances presented by the graduates, as a small token of appreciation towards their teachers.

However, due to the occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic, things can’t stay the same. We had to adapt to the current situation, following all the health protocols made by the government. In the meantime, virtual graduation events became the new norm.

Graduation hasn't felt the same ever since, but, don’t be disheartened! To all fellow graduates out there, you should be proud of your success. Consider graduation as a milestone. Although it marks the end of one chapter, you would eventually start a new one. A new, bright and promising one ahead of you!
