Cultural Globalization

10 Dampak Negatif Pengaruh Globalisasi, Kriminalitas Meningkat hingga Hilangnya Budaya Asli : Okezone Edukasi

With the internet by our side at all times. Rapidly developing and us as a society becoming more dependent, a serious effect will also develop such as cultural globalization. To some extent, despite the effort to resist cultural globalization countless od national culture is in danger. More cultures and traditions are merging into one. The way we live, economically, politically, and social norms and values.

Globalization is seen as the intermixing of people, cultures, economies and technologies all around the world. Starting from simple things such as drinking coffee. Coffee grown worldwide can trace its heritage back centuries to the ancient coffee forests on the Ethiopian plateau. Now countries all around the world have been consuming it daily. Foods like pizza, coke, and noodles. Clothing like Levi jeans, reebok, and h&m.  traditions such as baby showers, gender reveal, lunar new year, lantern festival, and so much more. All the way to traditional society's expectations of women’s lifestyles.

This developing consumerism has encouraged mass common consumer culture which reflects a powerful grip on societies throughout the world. As consumerism spreads, changes are visible in lifestyles, cultural tastes, food habits, clothing choices and entertainment. Social media has served a massive impact on society shown by multiple studies. One of which is gastroenteritis—a disease associated with eating habits. Eating disorders are now spreading all around the world like wildfire. With toxic social standards shown through social media. On the positive side, more younger generations are now becoming more productive through making small business and growing it through the social media platform. Many use social media to gain knowledge about their life or even future life tips.

In spreading cultural globalization, technology has played a crucial role. In reality, technology has shrunk the world in our palms. Revolutions in electronic communication (such as radio, TV, cinema, telephone, mobile, fax, Internet, etc.) and rapid means of transportation have produced an indelible impact on local, regional and national cultures because these means can now reach swiftly even the remotest corner of any country.

The big question would be, will the traditions in the world eventually become one?
