English Devotion

by Arthur Julian Mulia

What’s English Devotion?

English Devotion is a short daily reflection where a student reads a Bible passage and shares its meaning before lessons begin. This program helps students start their day with God’s wisdom and apply biblical principles to their lives, while also developing their English skills.

Why Is It Important?

  • It starts a positive tone for the day, reminding students to rely on God’s guidance.

  • It encourages students to engage with scripture in a meaningful way.

  • It develops their English skills, as selected students are told to speak the passage in front of the class.

How Does It Work?

A student typically follows this structure:

  1. Opening Prayer: The student starts with an opening prayer.

  2. Bible Reading: The selected scripture is read aloud.

  3. Application to Daily Life: The student shares how the lesson applies to common situations, such as handling stress, practicing kindness, or trusting God.

  4. Closing Prayer: The session ends with a prayer.

Although brief, English Devotion is a meaningful program that encourages students to deepen their faith while also developing their ability to speak in English. It reminds students that God is present everywhere in their lives, including school.
